From the age of two, Vasavi traveled to India every summer with her older sister Pallavi and her mother Geetha. There, she witnessed extreme starvation and poverty – and those extreme images forever changed how she saw the world. It became crystal clear that her reason for being was to feed people, both their mouths and their minds.

With that burning desire and vision for those she sought to serve, Vasavi has taken many paths to fulfill her purpose. Leveraging her action-based philosophy and passion to make her dream realized, Vasavi has become a sought-after contributor on multiple media platforms. As a result she has been able to spread her message of being relentless in pursuit of your dreams and most currently, demystifying the plant-based lifestyle over at

Vasavi Kumar is often described as “your kick-in-the-pants guide en route to your desired destination.” An entrepreneur at heart, Vasavi holds dual Master’s degrees in Special Education from Hofstra University and Social Work from Columbia University. She’s co-author of the bestselling book Succeeding in Spite of Everything, has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Food Network, NBC, Huffington Post Live, and was a regular on NBC as the “Keepin’ It Real Guru” on Kansas City Live, as well as a featured Life Coach on VH1s Basketball Wives where she coached one of the main stars of the show.

In 2013, after setting her “nourish the minds of the people” goal in place, Vasavi set up to complete her purpose’s equation to “nourish the mouths of the people” Vasavi pursued her dream of becoming a vegetarian chef at The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, TX. She has committed to dedicating her life to show people how to nourish themselves by being conscious about what they eat, how they think, and what they do to server bigger in the world.
